The Network of National Adaptation Hubs
Climate change adaptation requires coordinated action across all levels of governance and a broad range of stakeholders. Addressing this need, the AdaptationHubs project builds a network of 27 National Adaptation Hubs across Europe, to boost coordination on climate adaptation, while helping national and local governments to share solutions and strengthen their approaches to managing climate risks.
Through peer learning, twinning, partnerships, and exchange programmes, countries can learn from one another and adapt faster and more effectively. AdaptationHubs draws on the knowledge, technical excellence, coordination capacity, and political relevance of 27 national expert organisations, entrusted with the task to set up National Adaptation Hubs.
AdaptationHubs supports the European Green Deal, the EU Adaptation Strategy, and the EU Climate Law, with the goal of leaving no country, city, region, or community behind in facing climate impacts.
The National Adaptation Hub of Hungary and BURST’s role
The National Adaptation Hub of Hungary is being established by HungaroMet Hungarian Meterological Service. In 2026, a collaborative process has been launched, with the objective of creating a structured and inclusive platform for multi-level governance and stakeholder engagement.
As part of this process, HungaroMet has signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with BURST – as the coordinator of the Hungarian NetworkNature NbS Hub, TeAM HUb – to support the establishment of a Hungarian multi-level governance adaptation network as part of the AdaptationHubs project. The goal of the collaboration is to:
- strengthen coordination and knowledge sharing among national, regional, and local stakeholders,
- support the dissemination of science-based, practical adaptation solutions.
The Hungarian network will be established as an umbrella organization and coordination platform spanning various sectors and governance levels by HungaroMet’s National Adaptation Centre, with the broad involvement of administrative, professional, and civil society partners.
