PROJECT SUMMARY

RuralProof tackles the persistent and growing divide between urban and rural areas in Europe. Many rural regions continue to face depopulation, fragmented services, poor infrastructure, and limited economic opportunities. These challenges are often made worse by national and EU policies that apply a one-size-fits-all approach, failing to consider the unique strengths and needs of each region.

In response, RuralProof aims to reshape national and regional strategies to better support rural areas facing structural disadvantages. Aligned with the Territorial Agenda 2030, the project promotes place-based, innovative governance to foster fair, inclusive, and sustainable development. It emphasizes evidence-informed policymaking, integrated territorial planning, and strong stakeholder involvement.

Through intensive inter- and intra-regional learning and knowledge exchange, RuralProof helps regions co-create effective, locally tailored solutions. The project brings together 9 partners and an Associated Policy Authority from 8 EU countries, along with a Discovery and an Advisory Partner, representing a wide range of governance levels and expertise.
